John O.E. Lundell, Q.C. CLEBC Staff/August 30, 2010 We were saddened recently to learn of the death of our great friend and tireless volunteer, John Lundell. John Lundell made an unprecedented contribution to legal education in British Columbia. He was a consistent and loyal volunteer for CLEBC since 1973. Again and again he freely offered his expertise, whether to speak at courses, author chapters, or serve on the editorial boards of our business law publications. His depth of knowledge of company law was unrivaled in this province. He served for many years on the advisory committee for the new Business Corporations Act and was a member of the Solicitors’ Legal Opinions Committee (B.C.). He never hesitated to share his knowledge and contribute to the better understanding within our profession of this difficult area of the law. We simply could not have offered the quality and variety of programs to educate the legal profession about company law, and particularly the Business Corporations Act, without his participation. We were proud to honour John Lundell with our inaugural Leaders in Learning award in 2005. Not only was John Lundell a helpful and enthusiastic volunteer, he was a warm, kind, funny and thoughtful colleague. We will miss him very much indeed. |
