The University of Victoria law faculty awards an annual prize honouring his contributions to the criminal law bar: “the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia Award in Criminal Law Honouring Mr. Justice John Bouck”. In 2006, he wrote a book (published by www.juriliber.com) entitled Exploding the Myths: An Insider’s Look at Canada’s Justice Systems. Before joining the legal profession, Bouck was a Royal Canadian Air Force jet fighter pilot and civilian pilot. Bouck is survived by his wife, Shirley, three children, and seven grandchildren. His daughter Carolyn graduated from the University of Victoria Law School in 1986 and was recently appointed a master of the BC Supreme Court.
