Chief Executive Officer
The Continuing Legal Education Society of BC is the profession’s preferred source for educational programs and publications in the province. CLEBC is a not-for-profit society that derives all of its income from course registrations and publication sales. The Programs group offers more than 80 in-depth courses that support BC’s 10,000 lawyers on specific facets of the profession, ranging from taxation and family law to more contemporary topics like technology and Aboriginal law. The Publications group has built a publication list of more than 50 books that are easy to use, comprehensive, reliable, and practice-oriented.
Reporting to a distinguished and representative Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will take ownership of identifying and realizing the organization’s full market potential. As the face of the organization, you will build strong relationships with key stakeholders, strengthen the Society’s relationships with partner organizations and academic institutions, identify new business opportunities, and craft and lead a vision for CLEBC moving forward. Leading a staff of more than 45 dedicated professionals, you will enhance CLEBC’s position as a market leader in Canada while actively seeking input from BC’s legal community, including CLEBC’s volunteers, to ensure CLEBC understands and meets the legal education needs of the profession. Key to success will be the capability to adopt and embrace new and emerging technologies where digital resources are the expected delivery method. Based in Vancouver, you will lead a professional development body that is well known and highly respected within British Columbia’s legal community.
With a legal background and senior management experience, you have earned acclaim for your leadership skills, relationship building, stakeholder engagement capabilities, and business acumen. This is a unique opportunity to take a widely respected organization that is a leader in its market and expand its presence with both new and existing subscribers, while also modernizing the service offerings of the organization by capitalizing on new technology to drive business and revenue growth. The Chief Executive Officer will truly make an important and lasting impact on the quality of legal education—and thus legal services—in the province of British Columbia.
