Publications Conversion Assistant (Temporary)

The Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (CLEBC) is the most respected source of continuing professional education and information for British Columbia lawyers and their staff. CLEBC publishes a variety of resources to assist the legal profession. We have approximately 50 practice manuals published in print and as online resources that are updated regularly and cover all of the major practice areas. CLEBC also puts on more than 75 courses a year covering 20 practice areas for audiences of 50 to 200 lawyers attending live or by webinar.

CLEBC is a non-profit society that is self-funded from the sale of products and services.

We are currently recruiting for a Publications Conversion Assistant. This is a temporary (12 months) full time position to assist with the conversion of book content to our new DITA CMS platform.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Convert book content into the DITA CMS
  • Track issues/problems while converting each book
  • Proof converted book in PDF against original copy to ensure completely and accurately reproduced
  • Assist Digital Publishing Specialist (MD) with code review as required
  • Assist Digital Publishing Specialist (MD) with quality assurance on converted book in HTML format
  • Suggest process improvement to maximize efficiency
  • Assist Digital Publishing Specialist (MD) as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and multitask
  • Strong team player, willing to assist where needed
  • Attention to detail; ability to be thorough in accomplishing a task with concern for all areas involved, no matter how small
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; strong oral and written English language skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent; publications degree or diploma is an asset
  • Proficient use of various software including Microsoft Office, DITA CMS
  • Experience in digital publishing an asset
