The Designated Family Law Paralegal Workshop

Hear from a colleague as she shares the highlights and lessons learned from her courtroom experience, get tips on preparing for court, and experience what works and what doesn't work in the courtroom.

If you’re looking for the convenience and flexibility of learning on your own, our award-winning Self-Paced eLearning programs will allow you to work online at your own pace.

These easily-accessible short programs are interactive, with questions interspersed between video clips of a previously recorded CLE-TV program. There are reference materials available to be viewed online or downloaded. You can save your progress, attempt the questions as many times as you like, and complete the program over several sessions.

Email has been at the centre of a spate of reports to the Lawyers Insurance Fund. In this program, you will hear the ways that email has triggered a report to LIF, with examples from the cases. Margrett George and Jonathan Corbett share practical risk management advice that you will be able to incorporate into your practice right away.

Procrastination

This session will introduce the three most common forms of procrastination, examine the most frequently occurring pitfalls, and provide you with a series of tips and a self-coaching practice that can help you to break free of the procrastination cycle.

Understanding and Overcoming Perfectionism

Following up on the popular program on Procrastination, Allison Wolf and Derek LaCroix, QC explore the ways that perfectionism can sabotage you. You will understand how it helps, how it harms, and what to do when it crosses the line.

Trust Accounting - Proper Practices & Pitfalls

This course highlights the Law Society’s Division 7 Rules on Trust Accounts and Other Client Property. It discusses trust accounting basics, such as how to receive funds into trust, how to withdraw them, and how to appropriately handle cash transactions. The presenters also discuss some topical issues such as cheque imaging, electronic records, and trust accounting best practices.
