Reading and Annotating Paperless Course Materials on Mobile Devices

December 13, 2013

Mobile Devices

Technology is wonderful, but things can happen (e.g. internet goes down) that are beyond our control and can affect your ability to access the electronic course materials.

To ensure that you have the electronic course materials readily accessible on your mobile device at the event, we recommend that you download the electronic course materials onto your mobile device prior to arriving at the event, rather than relying on the wireless internet access at the venue to access the course materials.

Here is a list of tools to help you have a positive experience when reading and annotating course materials on your mobile device.

PC Laptop

If you are using a PC laptop, we recommend that you start by downloading the latest free version of Adobe Reader onto your laptop.

To open the PDF:
1. Access your e-mail account and select the message you received from CLEBC Programs (approximately 24 hours before the event).
2. Open the link in the body of that message.
3. Open the "Course Materials" link.
4. Save the PDF to your hard drive.

Preview is installed on all new Macs and allows you to add annotations to the PDF file. There are two ways to access these tools:
1. Go to the Tools Menu, choose Annotate, and select the tool of choice.
2. Go to the View Menu, select Show Annotations Toolbar. This toolbar will display at the bottom of your document.
You must select the tool of choice before selecting the text to annotate. These annotation tools are toggled on and off. They stay active until you select another tool or click the active tool to turn it off.
