Understanding and Working with Limited Liability Partnerships

While still relatively uncommon in BC outside of legal and accounting firms, the limited liability partnership promises to become a significant feature in our legal landscape. Limited liability partnerships are hybrid business entities that closely resemble general partnerships, but whose members enjoy limitations on personal liability that may be analogous to those enjoyed by shareholders of corporations. Alison Oxtoby of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin describes the limited liability partnership in her excellent contribution to the recent CLEBC course "Partnerships and Unlimited Liability Companies".
