Legal Education at Your Fingertips

We've always been a leader in Continuing Legal Education throughout the province. Starting with a few face-to-face courses at UBC in the 1970s, our society has evolved to offer a wide array of practical, reliable, and accessible legal resources to equip the legal profession with the knowledge and skills needed to serve the public.

With a culture of innovation and the desire to meet the changing needs of legal professionals in BC, we’ve grown with the legal community to continuously expand our products and services while being reliable, practical, and BC-specific. This has meant:

  • Increasing our course load to 80 programs per year.
  • Producing and updating 50 books and other collections and resources.

We’re always looking for new ways to deliver the information you need, when and how you want it. To this end, we’re constantly developing a variety of flexible learning options.

Online learning provides direct access to the resources you need, and we’ve made our learning options as convenient as possible.

Learn over the lunch hour with CLE-TV
  • Many of our courses are accessible via live webinar, semi-annual rebroadcasts, and through our Webinar Archive subscription service.
  • You can even learn from your office over lunch with CLE-TV— short, online webinars with live video streaming delivered from our in-house studio.
  • We've produced online versions of our books and other resources.

We are a not-for-profit society. Our ability to deliver professional and reliable legal education is dependent on approximately 1000 volunteers who play critical roles in providing the support that the legal profession needs.

Volunteers provide timely content by gathering relevant information and presenting it in a thoughtful, logical, and structured way. We are always looking for new ways to show our appreciation for the exceptional work of our volunteers.

Our customers are diverse; we recognize that legal professionals want and need unique content in different ways and at various times.

As we continue to offer new and innovative learning options, we’re also working to change the way we organize our content.

  • We’re developing a web strategy that will narrow down our content into smaller, more specific chunks.
  • We’re also making our content more mobile-friendly.

Our aim is to lead you directly to the content you need with the fewest number of clicks on any given device.

Looking forward, we are committed to innovating our products, services, and delivery methods. Each year, we set aside 5% of our gross revenue to go towards research and development. By getting to know our customers’ unique needs, we strive to provide you with the most relevant content, packaged in a way that is both useful and practical.
