Computers and digital data are becoming increasingly important in the litigation world—are you prepared?
Computers are an integral part of life in the 21st century, from our business and commercial relations to our social and private lives—whether at work or play, computers play a major role in our lives. Computer information is critical, and issues surrounding computer records, their identification, authentication, examination, and preservation can arise in a wide range of legal contexts—from civil litigation to criminal prosecutions. This comprehensive course will give counsel grounding in the technical and legal issues surrounding the tendering or challenging of data and records from a variety of computer and computer-like devices. The course will quickly bring non-computer specialists up to speed on the issues, practices, and procedures surrounding the collection and presentation of computer information in the litigation process.
You will learn about...
- the essentials of digital data: its scope and relevance to all litigation
- the technical issues surrounding the utilization of digital data
- digital data security issues in the law firm setting
- best practices for collecting, organizing, and presenting computer and other digital data in the court process.
