Who should attend: Family lawyers and others interested in effectively screening clients for famly violence.

Section 8 of the FLA imposes a duty on family law lawyers to screen clients for family violence.

This course will address these questions and more. You will learn about risk factors and warning signs of family violence, and hear about effective and ineffective approaches. You will also learn what factors should be included when preparing an affidavit with an application for protection order. For those who have not taken CLEBc's three-day training workshop Screening for Family Violence, this course will provide guidance and tools to assist you to screen effectively and to conduct a case in which there is family violence.
Questions will be answered by faculty either during or after the course.
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 1.5 hours which will involve aspects of professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management.
