Who should attend: Lawyers with 1 – 3 years experience advising businesses; experienced lawyers or in-house counsel who seek a refresher or primer on key areas of corporate law.
Learning level: Fundamental/Intermediate
This program will involve a review of the basic aspects of the professional liability policy administered by the Lawyers Insurance Fund with a business law focus, including:
- details of Part A of the policy
- some background on the frequency of claims reported in different areas of the law
- a review of the most common types of errors reported and how they manifest themselves in business law files
- a review of some common issues encountered in business law files over the past few years
- some actual case examples
This is the 6th/last course in the Business Basics series, a 6-part CLE-TV series designed to provide you with an overview of the basic principles in corporate law and how to use them effectively in practice so that you have the big picture in mind when advising a business.
This series uses the CLEBC publication Advising British Columbia Businesses as its course materials and resource guide.
