Time: 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Who should attend: Lawyers and administrators who would like to create a strategic plan for their firm. The course will consider the needs of sole practitioners and small to medium sized firms.
Learning level: Fundamental
A strategic plan provides an organization with direction by setting logical yet assertive goals, coalesces teams into aggressive productivity, and ensures resources are allocated with the greatest possible efficiency. For these reasons, they are a vital business process of most organizations, but law firms have been very late adopters. While most large firms now have strategic plans, small to medium-sized firms have been slow to embrace this fundamental business tool. The delay has in part been the result of a lack of internal marketing expertise to identify and resolve the gap, bad past experiences in attempting to develop a strategic plan, and inability to properly implement on a plan. This session looks at best practices in creating and implementing a strategic plan to create one of the most powerful firm management and business development tools your firm will likely use over the next five years.
At this course you will learn...
- what a strategic plan is (and isn’t)
- what its value is to a firm (of any size)
- how to create a strong strategic plan
- how to use the plan for creation of annual business goals and plans for the firm
- how to track and report on a strategic plan.
