Who should attend: Lawyers, paralegals, legal support staff, notaries public, and all others who work in the area of wills, estates, and succession law; the course may also be of interest to trust officers and accountants.
Learning level: All levels
The world of will and estate planning, estate administration, and estate litigation in British Columbia changed significantly on March 31, 2014 with the coming into force of the Wills, Estates and Succession Act and the new Rule 25 of the Supreme Court Civil Rules. This course will focus on how these changes are affecting the wills and estates practice and will highlight developing "best practices". It will also review the emerging body of law under the new legislation.
After taking this course you will...
- understand how WESA is affecting practice in the wills and estates area
- know how the new rules are working
- be aware of new case law
- understand the interplay between the WESA and the FLA
