With over 7% of the world’s population and over 20% of the world’s GDP, the European Union stands as one of the most important political-economic entities on the planet. Comprising some 28 member states bound by a system of supranational institutions and intergovernmental agreements, the EU is a significant economic partner for Canada generally, and British Columbia in particular.
This is the 1st session of a two-part CLE-TV series designed to bring corporate solicitors and corporate/commercial litigators quickly up to speed on what they need to know to serve clients dealing with entities operating under the EU umbrella.

Introduction to the EU
- history of the EU
- key institutions
- key agreements
EU Business Part I
- legal method and sources
- constitutional foundation and fundamental principles
- economic freedoms
- intellectual property law
- dispute resolution
The second session in the European Union Law Series EU Business Part II will be held the following Wednesday, September 23, 2015.
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 1.5 hours. This course will NOT involve aspects of professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management.
