Join us for an update on the latest policies, legislation, issues, and trends in forestry law. How will BC forestry be transformed by the Tsilhqot’in decision on Aboriginal title? Come learn how to run an opportunity to be heard for an alleged forest practice contravention and about how logging rates are established under long term logging contracts. This is an essential course on the current state of forestry law in BC, for forestry professionals and lawyers alike.
At this course you will learn about:
- implications of the Tsilhqot'in judgment on Aboriginal title and the effect on forest land management
- how to run an opportunity to be heard under the Forest and Range Practices Act
- negotiating and litigating market rates for replaceable logging work
- wildfire cost recovery
- negotiating the new Softwood Lumber Agreement
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 7 hours (a minimum of 1 hour will involve aspects of professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management).
