Who should attend: Lawyers with 1 – 3 years experience practicing in the area of securities law; lawyers who practice some securities law, but not as their primary practice, may also be interested.
Learning level: Fundamental
Securities law is complex and can be more challenging in difficult market conditions. Whether you are a securities lawyer or a corporate lawyer dealing with securities, you will practice more effectively if you understand the overarching policies that inform the transactions with which you are working and are able to anticipate the particular issues that arise in volatile times.
At this course you will learn about:
- crowdfunding—what it is, how to implement, and practical issues to consider
- the latest updates on prospectus exemptions
- down market issues
- insolvency issues
- how to deal with clients in challenging times
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6 hours (a minimum of 1 hour will involve aspects of professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management).
