(Original course: Friday, February 4, 2016)

Who should attend: Personal injury litigators from both the plaintiff and defence bars; the course will also be of interest to personal injury paralegals.

Learning level: Intermediate/Advanced

Last run in 2012, this popular course is a review of important topics currently shaping personal injury practice. The program will examine a broad spectrum of personal injury practice related issues including developments in the law, the rules of court, medical issues, advocacy skills, expert evidence, professionalism, and law practice management. The overall emphasis of the program is on practical information, matters that are relevant to the “cut and thrust” of everyday PI practice. This course is about what every defence counsel needs to know and what every plaintiff counsel should know.

At this course you will learn about...

  • the challenges that narcotic painkillers raise for plaintiff rehabilitation
  • how to enhance your role as a gatekeeper in the medical management of a file
  • best practices for handling argument in jury trials and dealing with un-represented litigants
  • how to hone your skills in handling expert evidence—from the family physician to medical specialists generally to neuropsychological assessments
  • updates in the critical areas of causation and client medical records
  • a fresh take on a range of important issues currently shaping personal injury practice

This course will be paired with the course Damages in Personal Injury 2016 held the previous day Wednesday, February 3, 2016. Take both courses and SAVE! See below for special pricing, and click here to register for both.
