West Moberly First Nations et al v. British Columbia et al is a complex, document-heavy, multi-party case. Most parties used litigation-specific software to house and review the documents at their offices. In the courtroom, all parties used an electronic trial platform to present their cases. In this case, the final Common Book of Documents contained 3,376 documents, totaling 30,000 pages. If printed, the documents would easily have filled 100 binders. To prepare copies for the court and parties to the case would have required more than 1,000 binders of paper: literally “walls of binders.” Hear how counsel on the case managed the documents electronically and how it improved the process.

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 1.5 hours (1.5 hours will involve aspects of professional responsibility and ethics, client care, and relations, and/or practice management).
