Who should attend: All those who advise, volunteer for, or work with not-for-profits: specifically lawyers, directors and officers, and executive directors who the new Societies Act may affect.
Learning level: All levels
The new British Columbia Societies Act and Societies Regulation will come into force on November 28, 2016. The new Societies Act replaces the current Society Act and makes significant changes to the incorporation, governance, and ongoing operations of societies in BC. Join us to learn about:
- some of the important changes coming under the new Act
- when the new legislation applies to societies and what else happens on the in-force date
- how (and when) to transition existing societies to the new Act
- when to update or adopt new bylaws to ensure compliance with the new Act
- whether the new model's bylaws are appropriate for your organization
- whether your organization can make use of the new “member funded society” status
