About the Course Chairs
Timothy Lack is a Vancouver lawyer and partner with Lunny Atmore LLP, Vancouver, and practices mainly in the areas of real estate and business law. In addition to his active real estate practice, he acts for many business people and companies who utilize his services for all their commercial matters.
Before completing his legal training, Tim worked as a sales representative for one of Canada’s premier resource companies. Since his call to the BC bar in 1994, he has been the responsible lawyer for over 8,000 real estate transactions, acting for banks, credit unions, and private lenders. His work with private lenders is extensive and he has acted as a lecturer to other lawyers on the subject. Tim has presented at various CLEBC programs over the years and has served as chair of the Residential Real Estate Conference since 2013.
Jennifer L. Neville is a lawyer with Hammerberg Lawyers LLP. Jennifer has more than a decade of experience providing advice to strata corporations and owners about strata property matters. She assists clients with bylaw and resolution drafting, governance and compliance with the Strata Property Act, strata financing, repairs, collections, and disputes. She regularly attends Special General Meetings and Annual General Meetings, and provides opinion letters regarding the Strata Property Act. Jennifer’s exceptional service has earned her the distinction of being named a finalist for several years in the Georgia Straight’s “Best of Vancouver, Best Lawyer when Buying/Selling Real Estate.” Jennifer also has a background in business law, through which she advises business owners about a range of legal issues, including buying and selling a business, contract negotiations and drafting, employment agreements, shareholders' agreements, corporate maintenance and reorganizations, financing, residential and commercial real estate, and commercial leases.

Dr. Tsur Somerville is an associate professor and holder of the Real Estate Foundation Professorship in Real Estate Finance at the Sauder School of Business at UBC, where he has been a professor since 1993. He is currently a Senior Fellow with the UBC Centre for Urban Economics and Real Estate, where he previously served as Director from 2001-2016. His research on real estate development, mortgage and real estate finance, and housing markets has been published in the leading academic journals in urban, housing and real estate market. In addition to his academic research, Dr. Somerville is a frequent commentator in the local and national media on Canadian real estate markets. Dr. Somerville sits on the editorial boards of the leading journals in real estate and has served as an officer of several academic organizations in the field. He is currently a NAIOP Distinguished Fellow. Dr. Somerville received his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and his BA in Economics and East Asian Studies from Hebrew University (Jerusalem).
