Learn the secrets of bulletproof drafting! Presented by Lenné Eidson Espenschied, author, professor, and transactional lawyer with over 20 years' experience, this course focuses on identifying and eliminating common sources of ambiguity in legal documents. Experienced corporate and transactional lawyers will undoubtedly recognize some of the common language we untangle in this program. We’ll condense hazy theories of drafting into concise, clear, practical techniques that can be applied immediately to improve clarity and overall quality of all legal documents. Recent Canadian cases and dozens of examples from real contracts will shed light on what to do and what to avoid when drafting.
Learn to reduce ambiguity by...
- recognizing the three types of ambiguity
- using words consistently
- editing poorly drafted provisions
- organizing complex sentences logically and in parallel structure
