This course will provide the basics of pension division. This basic information will be useful for all family, labour, employment, and corporate lawyers. Referring to a fact pattern provided in the materials, the presenters discuss the initial steps when a matrimonial file involves a pension, followed by five pension division examples: dividing an unmatured pension in a DB Plan under Part 6; dividing an unmatured pension in a DC Plan under Part 6; dividing a pension under the federal Pension Benefits Division Act; dividing CPP benefits; dividing an RRSP.
