Medical marihuana is changing Canada’s medical and legal landscape… do you know the essentials?
Cannabis marihuana continues to be a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act of Canada. With the Medical Marihuana Access Regulations (MMAR), Canadians who suffer from grave and debilitating illnesses are granted access to marihuana for medical purposes. This program in effect creates a class of exceptions to the criminal law framework governing the production, possession, and consumption of marihuana. What are the criminal implications for those who wish to use medical marihuana? What are the rules if someone wishes to produce medical marihuana? In this context, CLEBC is proud to present a comprehensive half-day program which is designed to quickly bring lawyers up to speed on the legislative scheme and the proposed amendments which are re-shaping the criminal and civil consequences of marihuana in Canada.
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 3 hours (a minimum of 30 minutes will involve aspects of professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management).
