A practical step-by-step guide to the transfer of land in British Columbia
This publication is essential for: legal support staff, junior lawyers, and experienced conveyancers.
Current to: September 1, 2016
Winner of the ACLEA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Publications, the Conveyancing Deskbook is designed to aid the conveyancer and legal assistant by providing a practical step-by-step guide to the transfer of land in British Columbia. The material is organized using a chronological and transactional approach. The first chapter is an overview of BC conveyancing, followed by chapters taking the reader through the transaction.
Conveyancers are encouraged to use the checklist at the beginning of each chapter to guide them through the transaction. Each checklist identifies issues to be considered, information to be obtained, and searches and investigations to be undertaken. And by reviewing the checklist along with the instructions, the conveyancer can readily identify all documents required for the particular transaction.
Each checklist contains many items that require further explanation and discussion; this material is contained in the "Commentary" section of the chapters and is cross-referenced in the checklists. All forms and precedents mentioned are included in the publication (also on CD-ROM), along with instructions for their completion.
The book is updated each fall. Subscriptions include online access with search capability and links to the full text of case law and legislation, and checklists and forms and precedents on CD-ROM.
