The Continuing Legal Education Society of BC (“CLEBC”) is the BC legal profession’s preferred source for education and publications. CLEBC is a not-for-profit society that derives all of its income from the sale of courses and books. With more than 80 live and online courses each year, and an online and print library of more than 50 books, we support BC’s 12,000 lawyers in all aspects of their practice.

We have an opening for an Online Programs Assistant. Reporting to the Production Manager, Online Programs, the Online Programs Assistant is responsible for assisting the Online Programs team with training and support for webinar presenters, as well as the production and delivery of courses.

This is a part-time, seasonal, junior position working up to three days per week. This role is a combination of remote and in-person work in Vancouver, with a term of mid-April through early July 2023. Some on-the-job training will be provided, but a candidate with training or experience in live video streaming, audio-video setup, and video production is preferred.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Acting as training lead or support for Zoom Webinar skills sessions
  • Documentation of training sessions
  • Technical support for remote webinar presenters
  • Data entry for video archive
  • Assisting with in-person/hybrid courses, including broadcasting, soundboard and camera operation
  • Assisting with video editing or filming
  • Technical support for customers
  • Administrative support for logistics around in-person events, such as preparing nametags, office supplies, printing, etc.
  • Other duties as required

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of live streaming video and webinars (specifically Zoom Meetings/Webinars)
  • Skilled in the use of audio-video production equipment, including ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment
  • Aptitude for working with Windows and Mac computers, mobile devices, and the internet
  • Capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical people
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills
  • Collaborative and supportive of others with good interpersonal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Proactive, anticipating, and planning for problems
  • Creative, flexible, positive attitude, ability to remain calm and work effectively when under pressure
  • Able to work flexible hours, including some overtime and early mornings
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 kg.
