Who should attend: All those wishing to enhance their insight and skills in negotiation and mediation; the course is essential for new family mediators and those attending mediations as counsel.
Learning level: Fundamental
Now in its second year, CLEBC is pleased to offer our new course introducing participants to the theory and practice of negotiation and mediation. This course will give you an understanding of the nature and source of conflict in the context of family dispute resolution. For those wishing to become Family Law Mediators under the Family Law Act this is the first course in our 80 hour curriculum.
This course will count for 16 hours of mediation training and will include exercises and role playing in both negotiation and mediation settings.
After this course you will have...
- an understanding of the nature and source of conflict in the context of family dispute resolution
- an introduction to the theory and practice of negotiation and mediation, which will include why some negotiations and mediations fail
- insight and skills to enhance your experience in negotiations, when attending mediation as counsel or to begin your training to be a mediator
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 16 hours (a minimum of 2 hours will involve aspects of professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
