Who should attend: Recent graduates of paralegal training program and new legal administrative assistants. This course will also be of interest to paralegals and legal administrative assistants already working, but who want to up their game.

Drafting Pleadings: As a paralegal new to the profession, you have successfully completed your education. How do you effectively transition into the workplace if you have little or no law office experience? Drafting Pleadings is an addition to the Paralegal Core Competency Series launched in May/June 2016 intended to provide a foundation for a successful transition into the workplace.
Drafting Pleadings is designed for paralegals who have completed their paralegal education and are entering the workplace. This could also benefit junior paralegals currently employed who wish to enhance their drafting skills. You will learn the purpose and importance of pleadings, what to consider before drafting pleadings, general drafting guidelines, and the risks associated with poorly drafted pleadings. This course will provide you with an understanding of the rules regarding pleadings and provide practical tips to drafting clear, effective pleadings which are essential in a litigation practice.
Also in the Paralegal Core Competency Series is the course:
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 1.5 hours. This course will NOT involve aspects of professional responsibility and ethics, client care, and relations, and/or practice management.
Please note that the CPD hours of rebroadcasts may differ from the CPD hours of the original, live program.
