Junior Accountant

We have an immediate opening for a Junior Accountant. The Junior Accountant provides support to the finance team for monthly financial reporting, general accounting, payroll and benefits administration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Ensure credit card reconciliations are prepared on a timely basis, completely and accurately
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of daily sales reports
  • Assist with customer billing, ensuring it is complete and accurate
  • Regular update and maintenance of the capital assets register
  • Ensure that capital requisition forms are completed and authorized
  • Carry out quarterly and year-end inventory counts
  • Assist in investigating discrepancies during inventory counts and make appropriate adjustments
  • Assist in the preparation of audit working papers and providing assistance during the audit
  • Accurate and timely processing of the payroll
  • Coordinate enrollment and termination of staff with benefits providers
  • Ensure the timesheet and absence management systems reporting is accurate
  • Preparation and timely filing of T4A, T4A-NR & T5 returns
  • Preparation and timely filing of GST, PST and non-resident tax returns
  • Apply and follow up on Canada Job Grant applications or other grants
  • Assist in the implementation, testing and review of any upgrade relating to accounting and associated information systems
  • Provide backup support for accounts payable and accounts receivable whenever necessary
  • Carry out ad hoc financial analysis and projects as required
  • Other duties as assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • A diploma or degree in financial management, business or related discipline
  • Minimum one year experience in accounting and finance
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Good communications skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Experience with Great Plains Dynamics is considered an asset
  • Working towards CPA an asset
