How and why did you get involved with CLEBC?

I started attending CLEBC courses as a young lawyer, and later as I grew in my knowledge and practice I started chairing and speaking at courses. CLEBC provides high quality legal education to the profession. I believe it`s important to maintain one’s legal knowledge and share our own legal knowledge to contribute to the profession`s education.

What are you are currently working on (or have most recently worked on) with CLEBC?

Most recently, we have been preparing for the June 2, 2017 Self-Governing Professions CLEBC course. Myself, and my colleague, Angela Westmacott, Q.C., shared this conference in 2014. We are very much looking forward to the conference this year.

What has been your most memorable CLEBC experience?

Working with the CLEBC staff. They are creative and resourceful, and they are supportive of ensuring that learning opportunities are meaningful to speakers and the audience.

What’s the most valuable piece of advice you have received?

There is always more to learn, no matter how long you have been practising.

What advice would you give newcomers interested in working in the legal profession?

Work hard, learn resilience, and throughout your career be reflective about what work engages you and work towards getting involved in that work.

What has been the most rewarding part of your career?

Helping clients achieve their goals has been the most rewarding part of my career.

Other than law, what are you passionate about?

Pie and cats. I absolutely love pie and cats!

What are some of your favourite legal resources? (blogs, websites, etc.)

In these times, law firms’ websites and blogs have become good legal resources. In the area of professional regulation, our firm runs a blog on professional regulation and we regularly read the blogs provided by the other professional regulation law firms including Field Law and Steinecke, Maciura, LeBlanc.

Anything you’d like to shamelessly promote?

Yes, our conference “Professional Regulation – One day Hearing Workshop” on June 1, 2017 at the Vancouver Convention Centre and our Self-Governing Professions CLEBC course on June 2, 2017.
