Required filings to the Land Owner Transparency Registry (LOTR) will begin on November 30, 2020.

The Land Owner Transparency Act (LOTA) requires that any time an application is made to register an interest in land in BC’s land title register, a transparency declaration must be filed with the LOTA administrator by each transferee.

A transferee that is a reporting body must also complete and file a transparency report. Existing reporting bodies with an interest in land will need to file an initial transparency report by November 30, 2021.

For more information, visit landtransparency.ca, which features information about the LOTR and how it will be administered. The site also includes a new Resources page including registration for upcoming webinars.
