As part of CLEBC Online Course Materials, we’re pleased to present your latest Practice Point: “Electronic Discovery Primer.”

This paper was originally prepared for CLEBC’s Family Law Basics for Paralegals and Legal Support Staff 2022 by author Ann Halkett (CEDS, Director, eDiscovery Services, of Alexander Holburn Beaudin + Lang LLP).

This paper provides an overview of the Electronic Discovery (“E-Discovery”) process, as well as recommendations for working with and reviewing voluminous documents.

As the author explains, E-Discovery is present in all areas of litigation and can be both a complicated and costly process. To mitigate these costs, firms must develop strategies, expertise, and best practices for collecting and reviewing electronic evidence.
