A Message from the Course Co-Chair, Jeffrey Rose, KC
In July 2011, CLEBC was host to the best attended Biennial Family Law Conference to date with over 250 registrants in attendance. Later that year the new Family Law Act (FLA) received Royal Assent and then came into force in March 2013. Rather than host the conference in 2013 we decided to wait until now – July 9 and 10, 2015 – to ensure that case law had developed under the FLA. The 2015 conference will be the highlight of family law in this province since the enactment of the FLA.
This two-day conference will be chock-full of every trending issue that we encounter – from strategies for conducting a case, conferences, chambers, trials, appeals, updates on guidelines, the evolving property division case law to income and alienation – all of it will be covered by pre-eminent counsel from here in BC and across Canada.
Best of all, we will be honoured to have a significant number of judges from every level of court in the province talking to us about what they do and what they expect from us.
The co-chairs, James Schuman, Stephanie Fabbro, and I look forward to seeing all of you July 9 and 10 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver for what will be the best conference yet!
