STINGING NETTLE AND BIGLEAF MAPLE are featured in a conservation area with enhanced habitat for the Oregon Forestsnail (a species at risk under federal legislation) near Lálèm Way—an affordable housing project of 23 unit rental suites, completed in 2022, that Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) First Nation built for its members in collaboration with BC Housing.

A STÓ:LŌ AGREEMENT FOR HERITAGE CONSERVATION, a landmark pilot project signed in 2022 between the Province of BC and the S’ólh Téméxw Stewardship Alliance (STSA) and extended in 2023, provides protection for 45 sacred, spiritual, and ceremonial heritage sites on Stó:lō Nation territory across the Central Fraser Valley, Chilliwack, and the lower Fraser River watersheds.
